Chickens in the mist
We are having the oddest weather on the Central Coast. Three days ago it rained. Four days ago I was wearing a sweater. Today, it is HOT. I hate that.
Chickens hate it more. Ziggy was kind enough to give us another egg today, but I understand that heat like this is disruptive to the egg laying process. I am hoping for the best.
So I am trying to keep my chickens cool during our odd days like this. On the coop we hang a shade cloth that I had cut to size at OSH. During normal weather I take it down to I can see the chickens from the house. I installed drip misters along the eve of the coop. The misters dampen the shade cloth and create a nice cooling system for the chickens.
